Thank You All
The Wa & ElfoThe Wa is a French visual artist who lives and works in Berlin. His practice, closely linked to the urban space, is dedicated to the fight for the ideal of a better society – a society free of domination. As a precise observer with social awareness and a keen sense of humor and provocation, he uses various methods and materials to lure viewers out of their usual modes of perception and comfort zones.
Italian artist Elfo is known for his conceptual street art, which conveys direct messages in a raw tone and in an ironic and self-deprecating way. His practice includes web performances, criticism of image overload, self-sabotage, and hacking, making him a pioneer in futuristic urban art.
The collaborative work between The Wa and Elfo, shown here, was originally created in a ghost village in Italy. Their project Thank You All is about proclaiming messages without a message: for this work they produced a large number of absurd demonstration signs. The slogans move erratically between different perspectives, together creating a loud chaos of demands, nonsense, and protest statements.
