Sebas Velasco

Biography
Sebas Velasco (born 1988) is a Spanish artist exploring scale and context through oil painting and public projects. Over the last few years, Sebas Velasco has aligned himself with the great documentarians of the transitional countries of Eastern Europe. With frequent visits to countries of former Yugoslavia, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine; Velasco observes the shifting relationship between the urban environment and economical/political structures.

Since this time he has participated in fellowships such as the Landscape Paular, organized by the Royal Academy of San Quirce Palacio Quintanar in Segovia. He was awarded the Antonio Gala Foundation Artistic Residency Grants and has received several awards, including the first prize in the second Drawing International Sports Competition, organized by the Association of Catalan Sports Federations, and the Climent Muncunill Prize for Young Artists. Notably, in 2022, he was invited for a conversation series at the Prado Museum in Madrid and was shortlisted for the National Portrait prize.
