James Reka
Biography
Australian born artist James Reka (Reka One) is based in Berlin and describes his art as ‘a paradox between sharp design and graffiti, held together with a fuse of passion and spray paint’. He has taken part in URBAN NATION’s Project M/1 and his works were featured in the URBAN NATION 2018 exhibition, ‘UN-DERSTAND The Power of Art as a Social Architect’.
Reka One grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and is based in Berlin now. His works show surrealist, abstract creatures influenced by pop culture, cartoons and illustration. His clean and unique style represents the beginnings of a new style of street art, communicating through strong lines, dynamic movement and bold colours.
He spent over a decade refining his now-emblematic aesthetic “In the alleyway and train lines of Melbourne’s inner-suburbs“, as he describes. Today he left his artistic traces as murals, graphics, and photographs and more. Reka’s works can be found on three continents from Japan to Milan and Paris to Brooklyn. He has exhibited in several solo and group shows all over the world.
