Paraglyph Jellyfish, 2024

Styrofoam, 150 cm × 250 cm

For more than fifteen years, Berlin artist and filmmaker Mr. Paradox Paradise has been covering buildings with his mysterious vertical letters. He works at great heights with a rope and professional climbing equipment, and the way he accesses the rooftops has come to symbolize freedom. His distinctive visual language is known under the name “paraglyphs” and has become an integral part of the Berlin cityscape, characterized by the colors red and blue. Along with his desire to perfect his aesthetic, he is driven by the strong will to share his social, environmental, and spiritual message. His commentary opens frequently up a vigorous debate.

Works by Mr. Paradox Paradise are also shown in galleries, yet the public space remains his preferred canvas. In his films, his actions are staged from idea to realization, revealing the secrets of his process and the tools he creates for it. Mr. Paradox Paradise expanded his art into the third dimension by creating sculptures in urban space, carefully adapted to the surrounding architecture. To prevent his sculptures from being stolen, he uses ropes to install them in places that are difficult to access, and he even equips them with GPS trackers.
